Art Sta. Ana is not your typical straight guy because his open-mindedness is a refreshing change from the usual profile. He met and fell in love with a transgender and does not mind at all. Simple as that.
In the said article, Art stated that:
“Being with Trixie exposed me to the plight not just of transwomen but of LGBT people in general. Being gender deviant doesn’t make you any less capable of contributing to the society and taking care of a family and living a normal life. Sadly, acceptance, respect, and protective laws are still lacking, especially here in the Philippines.
While it worked out for me and Trixie as she was warmly accepted by the people around me, it shouldn’t really have been that hard. Our love story isn’t finished yet—far from it. It really is just like everybody else’s love story, only a little different. In the end, it being different shouldn’t matter. But then again, in today’s society, maybe it does.”
Hooray for love in all its shapes, forms and sizes. I’m truly happy for Trixie as she has found a guy who literally loves her for what she really is. But I’m happier for Art that he has given a brand-new meaning to a relationship that shouldn’t create any kind of unusual fuss in the first place. ;-)
