If you think Miss World New Zealand 2014 Arielle Garciano is a Kiwi with mere token of Filipino roots, then you’ve got another thing coming. Her father, Melvin, is as Pinoy as the next Cebuano from Camotes Island. They may call Lyttleton home, but still maintain healthy links with relatives in Poro. The photos below are proof positive of her Filipina side. On the other hand, her mother Diane is pure English. So that makes the daughter a mix of three cultures altogether.
Arielle still warmly calls her Cebuano grandparents Lolo and Lola. She is also quite fond of her cousins living here. And during her last trip to the country as a grown-up, she was able to enjoy local delicacies, took rides in jeepneys, visited the historical sites of Manila and had a good time bonding with all her relatives.
In summary, Arielle may be half-Pinay, half-English and full-Kiwi in nationality. But her heart definitely has a good chunk of the Filipino spirit in her. :-)
