Araneta Coliseum way back when
Back in March, 1960 when Araneta Coliseum opened, the surrounding area was still a mud-friendly place where rainy seasons left everyone dirtied up and messy.
The shiny Gateway Mall was still nowhere in sight, just as the establishments which preceded what the present layout shows – Farmers Market, Ali Mall, Fiesta Carnival, New Frontier Theater, Shoemart and the Manila COD Department Stores.
The host venue of the annual Bb. Pilipinas, the Big Dome is already an institution that has come a long long way, don’t you think? :-)
