Yvethe Marie Santiago was the girl being predicted by many as the Philippines’ next representative to Miss Universe. She’s young, fresh and well-credentialed. But somewhere along the way to the finals, the winds of change suddenly blew in a different path. She still ended up with one of the five (5) crowns, but lost her grip on the top prize to a more battle-trained (seasoned if you will) beauty warrior in the person of MJ Lastimosa.
There’s no need to ask a question like ‘what went wrong?’ because in the first place, she was still honored with a title that effectively makes her part of Team Philippines for 2014. In fact, she is now being challenged to carry on the prospects of a back-to-back victory in Miss Supranational 2014.
The excitement for Yvethe may have been dampened. But I reckon that her fans and followers have already made truce with the turn-out of events. The time to level up and solidify the support is more crucial than ever, because on her shoulders now rest the pride and honor of a country that is at the peak of outstanding representations in the global pageant stage.
And I’m pretty sure the beautiful Albayana is more than glad to be one of five (5) soldiers of beauty who will continue with the tradition of excellence. :-)
