Maine Mendoza, aka Yaya Dub
Indulge me, dear readers, just for this one Sunday Special post about Maine Mendoza, or more popularly known as Yaya Dub. She who, along with matinee idol Alden Richards, has become an international phenomenon with their Aldub pairing. She who has skyrocketed to fame from out of nowhere. She who may not have the face we always associate with beauty pageants, but whose popularity has reached far and wide.
If Maine is taller by at least five (5) inches, do you think she would make an ideal Filipina Beauty Queen? Not necessarily to represent our country in a pageant abroad, but to simply be the role model of Filipinas worldwide. Come to think of it, she need not be statuesque if that were the case.
Obviously, I am riding on the Aldub bandwagon here. But let’s set aside our high standards for Bb. Pilipinas or Miss World Philippines or Miss Philippines Earth for a while.
Would Maine Mendoza make a unique and influential beauty who can set a trend for good values? Will her profile be a good benchmark for future titleholders? She does make a good case study for the more academic thinkers and researchers. Or the plain debaters or commenters if you will.
Miss Real Dalagang Filipina, anyone? ;-)
