Please give me a quick background of your family, work or educational attainment.
“I was brought up by a farmer father and a housewife mother. I am very proud as a native (born and raised) of Koronadal, Province of South Cotabato. We are three siblings in the family.
I started joining male pageants when I was in college and won Mister Sultan Kudarat State University in 2003. Since then, I decided to take part in other local and regional pageants that include Ginoong Pilipinas and Manhunt Philippines (Metro Manila). Inspite of my busy schedule, I have always given my education top priority because I personally believe that having one will be a foundation for my goals and objectives in life. I graduated from Sultan Kudarat State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering. Subsequently after college, I moved to Manila and landed my first job. Working full-time, I decided to go back to school to pursue my Master’s Degree at Adamson University (also in Computer Engineering). Today, I am working as a Sales Supervisor for KEYSYS Incorporated, an IT system company based in Quezon City. It is one of today’s leading distributor and supplier of most updated and ground-breaking information technology products in the country.”
So let’s move on now to Richard’s Q&A.
1) As a Misters 2015 candidate, give me a 30-second intro about yourself which will make followers show more interest in you.
What you see is what you get.
Confident – I am fair and equal. I strive to always understand other people’s point of view.
Genuine – I never try to be something. If I don’t know something, I admit it. I’m honest.
Positive – I want to be a positive voice in a world when things are down. Being positive makes you a pleasure to talk to and more people will want to talk to you.
2) As one of the candidates, what image do you want to show others?
Mister #25 is confident, genuine, humble and a down to earth person.
3) In Miss Universe, a popular running line is “yellow is the color of joy”. What color well represents you?
For me, Red is the color of love. Joining Misters 2015 is not all about the titles. Whether I get a title or not, I will continue to spread love, joy, hope and friendship towards one another.
4) Not everyone can win a special award in the competition, but if you are qualified for the following, which would you prefer to win: Mister Friendship or Mister Talent?
Either one. I would like to be a role model for everyone. Sometimes I think it goes hand in hand. You have to be friendly and have the talent to promote your mission or goals to help others.
5) If you win one of the titles, people will expect you to be a good role model. How will you start building that image if ever?
I am strong advocate of youth education. I will use the title to promote reading, writing and speaking. Coming from a poor background, having a good education changed my life and I would like to share that to others in every way I can.
6. Having joined other male contests in the past, what difference do you expect in terms of handling Misters2015 competition? Will you adopt a new game plan?
This is just the beginning and I am very optimistic that “Misters 2015 The Pageant” will be a continued success. I would like to be a supporter of the organization in promoting and fostering its mission, goals and objectives on how we can make a difference. I would like to encourage and engage others that a million miles can begin with smaller steps. Collaboration is a key to success!
7. How do you expect your life to change after being named an Official Candidate of Misters 2015?
People will want to get to know you more. People will have greater expectations of you. And whether they are good or bad, right or wrong, I will continue to stay positive and focus on my mission and goals as a candidate of Misters 2015. Life always comes with struggles and challenges but no matter what happens we must stand proud of what we have and what the future may bring.
