First, there was Ari Kane for Victoria. Then Daniel Anthony Polbrat followed for Melbourne. Now, the world’s smallest continent is pinning its biggest hopes for 20-going-on-21 (on August 20) Robert “Rob” Mcnamara, the reigning Mister Philippines Australia.
By sheer looks alone, Rob could already be a top contender in Misters 2015 The Pageant. His piercing gaze and finely-built physique are enough to send pageant fans shrieking (or secretly admiring) and seeking for his attention. Don’t doubt the appreciation that he will give in return. He will always have that extra ounce of friendliness to share to people who will see him both for the outside and through what kind of character runs inside his head and heart.
To say that Rob is a gym buff would be an understatement. Hey, he could even pitch a tent around the premises just so that the exercise equipments are just a hop, skip and jump away. But not to give the impression that he is all weights and lifts, the guy has a solid social life that allows him to create strong friendships, aside from having a close-knit family life with his parents and sibling. Call him a ‘halfie’ who’s very happy with his Filipino roots.
I ‘imposed’ my Misters Q&A on Rob. It’s not like he can escape this part. He came up with well-thought of replies in my opinion. Here goes:
1) As a Misters of Pilipinas 2015 candidate, give me a 30-second intro about yourself which will make followers show more interest in you.
Greetings!!!
My name is Robert McNamara. Currently I am employed in the Aviation Industry. What I bring as a Misters of Pilipinas 2015 candidate is high energy, a will for community compassion and my heart. In the short amount of time I will have to get to know each and every person involved, it is my honour to lift and promote the Misters 2015 to an even broader audience than this great event already holds. I will do this through my determination and positive actions in show casing the love, tradition and respect as a fellow Pinoy.
2) As one of the candidates, what image do you want to show the others?
The image I intend to portray to the other Misters 2015 candidates, is an image of great strength, power, pride, grace, and above all of these examples – sincerity. My image to the other candidates is to lead through examples that not only can I, as a Pinoy man be powerful, with great physical strength… I can, at the same time be kind, understanding and approachable. That I will also exhibit great strength of heart, and, should another falter, not be afraid to reach out to assist or guide.
3) In Miss Universe, a popular running line is “yellow is the color of joy”. What color best represents you?
The colour I believe represents myself the best is blue. This colour choice includes the light, mid-strength and dark hues of blue. The light blue reflects me by not only featuring the honesty of blue, but also the purity of white. This combination is for my soul. The mid hues of blue represents the nautical. That my originals hail from a proud country, the Philippines, which is surrounded by water. The dark or navy hue of blue represents my belief in authority, respect, social justice and trustworthiness. As a young Filipino man, dark blue signifies my sense of self in the strength and belief of deep-rooted tradition and loyalty.
4) Not everyone can win a special award in the competition, but if you are qualified for the following, which would you prefer to win: Mister Friendship or Mister Talent?
Should I have to choose between receiving Mister Friendship or receiving Mister Talent… I would ask that I be bestowed with the Misters 2015 category win of Mister Friendship. Receiving the title of Mister Friendship would confirm that I had successfully embodied a brotherhood with my fellow contestants that I demonstrated and led with success, a state of mutual trust and support between us.
5) If you win one of the titles, people will expect you to be a good role model. How will you start building that image if ever?
If I were ever to win one of the titles, the way I would start building an image which would be to approach my generation and endorse the traditions and respect what we once had not just for ourselves but more importantly for others. In saying this, most of all to have enough self-respect and belief and to follow your hopes, dreams and in the process inspire others. Because it is in our nature to be caring and loving towards one another.
Also, it is very important to help the community most especially the schools as I believe educations is very important these days, therefore I will be getting more involve in Charity Organizations.
6. What expectations do you have in terms of handling the national competition in Manila?
Being that it will be here in the Philippines and not Australia, will you adopt a unique gameplan if ever?
If I were to win a title and was required to stay in the Philippines I would be more than HAPPY.
No game plan. I want people to see me for who I am. Hopefully my honest approach will encourage people to vote for me.
7. How do you expect your life to change after being named an Official Candidate of Misters 2015?
I expect my profile to be more public than usual and that my time to be more in demand through engagements.
8) Any message to your future followers?
My message to my future followers would have to be stay true to yourself as I will be to you, I am on this journey to experience learn and love and I would love for you to be there with me every step of the way and hopefully we can grow as individuals and inspire others because otherwise there’s no point to what Misters of Pilipinas strives to achieve which is an image of our pride and tradition as Filipino’s. I’d like my follower to get motivated and to motivate others because we can all be some sort of role models no matter how big our audience is it just as important.
Believe in yourself and take a chance as you never know what opportunities lay ahead!!!
Love goes out to you all and thank you for all your support.
Join Rob Mcnamara and the 29 other candidates as they bring male pageantry to new heights in Misters 2015 The Pageant. :-)
