2013 crowns for Miss Earth, Air, Water and Fire

There’s always something to be said about the crowns being given away by an international beauty competition. You either like them, hate them or just plain unconcerned.
With the elemental crowns for Miss Earth 2013, the first thing that comes to mind is that they look like a step down from the old ones. And while the Air/Water/Fire designs – in particular – remind the more mature readers of what Carnival Queens wore on their heads back in the 1950s, the throwback end result doesn’t seem to sit too well with the more modern preferences of the younger ones.
But if it’s any consolation, the gems used by Jewelry Designer Ramona Haar are not the cheap kind in terms of value. She will certainly not put her name and reputation at stake just to come up with bargain basement tiaras for budget’s sake. Don’t ask me to put a tag price on each one of them, though (I don’t have as much knowledge of jewelry prices compared to a pawnshop appraiser).
For now, let’s celebrate the uniqueness of the pageant. I’m sure whoever gets to wear one of these head honors will end up being happy because that would mean victory however which way you look at it.
