With deadly natural calamities hitting our country one after another in the past 30 days alone, the significance of the environment-focused beauty pageant is at its most connected. It is indeed ironic that an earthquake and the strongest typhoon in the world have shaken the core of every Filipino when it is at the helm of a competition that espouses the preservation and protection of Mother Earth. But it can also be a powerful platform to show the world our resilience as a people.
