Binibini 34: WinWyn for the Win?

Binibini 34 Teresita Ssen “WinWyn” Marquez is the Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Official Candidate that has the most polarizing effect among pageant fans and followers. It’s either one side loves her or the opposing side does not like the idea of her becoming a steady performer in this year’s edition. As a result, the ones in the anti-group keep on pouncing on her most evident shortcoming – height – and for some, a chin that does not pass muster with their exacting standards of physical beauty. Add to that the fact that she is a celebrity candidate, the glowing chance of stealing a title from one of the less-known contenders is quickly becoming a source of irritant.

I must admit. She is not the prettiest in this batch. But WinWyn knows how to capitalize on her natural strengths. The acting advantage has already given her the edge to face the public and handle interviews with such ease. Her command of the English language is nothing to sneer at as well. And her presentation skills – be it in swimwear, casual outfits, national costume or evening gown – are clearly more superior than a majority of the other comers.

So will Binibini 34 register a win come March 15? Possibly, if fate so decides. But there are no guarantees whatsoever. She is simply giving her best. And can we blame the judges if they find her deserving? As far as I’m concerned, I take results as they are announced. I can always pitch in with my choices. But if she is truly destined to be a titleholder or runner-up, then so be it. ;-)
