Just looking at the photo grid above, it’s quite easy to tell how she was a stand-out the first time that she joined last 2013, slackened a bit the following year and restored her original aura in the ongoing competition. I’m amused myself how pictures can project the ups and downs in a Binibini’s participation.
Pia was obviously peaking when she was named 1st Runner-Up during Bb. Pilipinas Gold. She was in her best elements then. But when she decided to resign from the placement to try her luck a year after, you can tell that there was something off. The pressure of getting a crown has definitely taken a toll on her overall disposition. And it didn’t help any that her fateful Q&A during finals night (where Sen. Angara asked her a question in Tagalog which somehow cornered her in giving a reply in the vernacular and losing time to translate her thoughts into English) was like a soft dagger that – while not the reason behind the loss – casted a not-so-positive spell on her final ranking among the judges’ scoresheets.
But the girl is back. And this time, the 2013 aura has been faithfully restored and ready to conquer the nationals with nerves of steel and a visibly more willful disposition.
Will Binibini 10 be finally able to rope in a highly-anticipated crown come March 15? ;-)
