Life is indeed stranger than fiction. So when Sheislane Hayalla ended up as a ‘poor’ runner-up to eventual Miss Amazonas 2015 (regional finals for Miss Brazil) winner Carolina Toledo, the former wasted no time in pulling off the crown from atop the latter’s head and throwing it to the audience. Allegations of a ‘bought’ victory erupted and all. Ho-hum. So what else is new in the darker corners of sub-national pageants? When a highly-charged and motivated beauty contestant gets defeated inspite of giving her best, you can never tell what she is capable of doing.
