So it is with joy that Miss World Philippines Megan Young made it to the finals of the said award. It only goes to show that our rep does not only do the talk. She also commits to action and does something to ease the pain of her countrymen any which way she can. If I’m not mistaken, her pitch for the honor – aside from the PGH (Philippine General Hospital) charities of MWP – has something to do with the flood relief efforts, particularly in the province of Bulacan which suffered during the non-stop onslaught of storms/typhoons and high water just last month and the current.
While some might say that helping victims of the flood pales in comparison to feeding the hungry or building shelter for the homeless, it is one devastating natural occurence most peculiar to the Philippines that cannot be ignored. And what is far more important than lazing around doing nothing is to actually go to the affected places, wade into knee-deep water and distribute relief goods. Prior to that, she also joined the telethons of the TV networks to raise donations for the same.
Indeed, there is a purpose in Megan Young’s life. And it comes from the heart.
