The alleged reason behind the dethronement is the alleged endorsement of a product against the organizers’ approval.
In a petition started by Orlando Cajegas on Change.org and directed to the organizers (EVI Marketing Communications and Celeste Shinagawa), it stated the following:“Your pageants tagline of ‘where the power of beauty changes the world’ took on a radical change the wrong way when you suddenly decide to dethrone reigning Mrs. Philippines Globe Dr. Stephanie Tiro Sitoy, a highly respected pediatrician in the country. What’s worse is that you replaced an unplaced candidate who posed for a men’s magazine in 2002! We the Filipino people don’t want to be represented by such a character with a history of showing skin for soft-porn! This violation of due process (no clear investigation on the alleged endoresment of the good doctor who is a staunch breast-feeding advocate) had to be rectified, hence hoping the public furor would not fall on deaf ears.”
I hope it’s still not too late for a reinstatement. Stephanie worked hard for the title and she has been diligently preparing for the international competition for months now.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
